Everyone is coming up with lists  for the holiday.  Some may be thinking of Christmas travel destinations as families prepare to enjoy the holidays.  For those who may be dreaming of chestnuts roasting on an open fire and a white Christmas or maybe you’re skipping the traditions and basking in the sun, we’ve put together some great holiday getaways to consider.

For the more traditional, winter wonderland options abound.  From the city that never sleeps to far away post card perfection, here’s a short list for your consideration. 

NYC, it gets pretty cold, but there is something to holidays in New York that you cannot find anywhere else. In this very busy mega city, you’ll feel a sense of family when you see the giant tree at Rockefeller, windows at Macy’s, and Central Park.  Some may call them a cliché but New York is filled with the holiday spirit.  “Christmas in New York” is an experience you’ll never forget.

Prague, the Old Town of Prague is magnificent any time of the year, but to be there for Christmas; the colors, the lights, and the scents, just makes it extraordinarily wonderful.  Central Square shows everyone how Christmas is celebrated in this corner of the Czech Republic. You’ll see puppets, dance with locals, sing, and toys for children everywhere.  The markets, no matter the weather, are open every day. Aside from stuffing your shopping bags, try their Becherovka and Trdelnik; you’ll be guaranteed to be very merry.

Vienna, considering Europe this holiday season, then spend the Yuletide in Vienna, Austria.  This city is a picture of postcard perfection, elegance and warmth, which spells the true meaning of the season.

The Schonbrunn Palace is among the most iconic monuments in Austria and the surrounding gardens give you a peek into the lifestyle of the country’s royalties. For those who want to dig down into their emotions of the holiday spirit, there are classical concerts at City Hall.  You don’t want to forget gifts for your loved ones back home; Vienna offers markets which are considered among the best in Europe.
